Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2006 Dodge Ram Pickup- Video

Today in your 2006 Ram 1500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Tekonsha's Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller.Our customer has recently been hauling his Winnebago here, and you can see this big old trailer, and this is what he's been using to haul it here, this old impulse brake controller. He's been having a lot of issues with the brakes applying too hard, they're just abrupt, this is an old time-delay model. He just doesn't like the way it feels. Now, whenever you're looking for a brake controller for your Caravan, obviously you're wanting to pull a trailer that has electric brakes on it. Now, our PrimusIQ, I like it because it's a proportional style brake controller. Now, what that means is, is that it's going to apply the brakes to our trailer at the same time and intensity that we apply the brakes in our caravan, opposed to the traditional style or older style brake controllers that we're a time delay. They had a preset amount of time that it would wait and it would apply the brakes to whatever setting you had. more

Now we're also going to be using in conjunction, pigtail wiring harness for the Draw-Tite brake controller and that's going be part number 7894. We're also going to be using the no drill long bracket, which is going to be part number 18136. Also, to help us get the wiring installed, we're going to be using the universal installation kit for trailer brake controllers, part number ETBC7.Here's what our brake controller looks like fully installed. Now this is a time delay brake controller, so we do have the option to mount it pretty much any which way we want. It does have the manual override button right here, which is going to be a lever style. more

Today on our 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan we'll be installing a Tekonsha PowerTrac Electronic Brake Controller, part number 39523. To ease our installation we'll be installing our brake controller with our 7-Way Adapter Kit, part number ETBC7. Here's what our brake controller looks like installed. As you can see, it's a nice, slimline design, very simple to operate, and easy to use. This will easily allow us to control trailer brakes on trailers that have up to two axles, making our Caravan a more suitable tow vehicle. This LED, when we don't a trailer connected, there is nothing displayed there. It's just off. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2014 Dodge Durango- Video

Today on our 2014 Dodge Durango, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller. This proportional controller works for one up to four axles. It's part number is 90105. We're also going to be using the Tekonsha Plug-in Wiring Adapter, part number 3045-P. The manual override lever here on the bottom is a very convenient way to supply power back to your trailer without having to hit the brakes in your vehicle. We've got our gain adjustment here and wherever we've got that set, you can see we're at about 7.2 there; we can go up to 7.2. This manual override is at no time going to overpower the brakes back on the trailer. more

Today on our 2014 Dodge Durango, we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the Tekonsha Voyager. This is a proportional trailer break controller for 1 up to 4 axles. Part number is 39510. We are also going to be using the Tekonsha Plugin Wiring Adapter for electronic brake controllers. Part number 3045-P. Now the setup of the brake controller initially, what we're going to do is turn the right hand knob, there is a little knob right here, we're going to turn it all the way clockwise. Should be able to pull that lever over and see that dark red light shine. Now while we've got our foot on the brake, we're going to start turning the knob on the left counterclockwise. more

Today on our 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite I-Command Trailer Brake Controller, part number 5535. To ease our installation, we'll be using the Tekonsha Plug-in Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers, part number 3020-P. As you see, it's a really nice, compact unit. It doesn't take up a lot of space, so this is perfect for applications where you may not have a lot of room to mount a brake controller inside your vehicle, such as some of your smaller SUVs or crossovers. This controller is ideal for controlling trailers with brakes on up to four axles. Our controller is very easy to use. This lever here is our manual override. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup- Video

Today on our 2008 Dodge Ram 3500, we'll be taking a look at and installing the Tekonsha Primus IQ Proportional Trailer Brake Controller, part number TK90160, with assistance from the Tekonsha Plug-in Wire Adapter, part number 3020-P. Now here on our brake controller, you can see that it's going to be fully adjustable, with 3 different settings here on the side, so you can adjust the pitch or the controller on the inside of the vehicle. Not only that, we have our trailer connected now. You can note that by seeing the C on the side here. Press in the manual and you can see the gain for the manual switch on our trailer. Since this is a proportional braking system, this is going to be how much power you're putting out to those trailer brakes, as well as selecting from the different boost modes here on the top, depending on what trailer you have connected will depend on what boost you're going to select. The wheel here on the side is going to be the power wheel to adjust the power that's going back to your brakes. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2013 Dodge Durango- Video

Today in our 2013 Dodge Durango, we're going to take a look at and then show you how to install the CURT Tri Flex. This is a proportional trailer brake controller good for one up to four axles, part number is C51140. We're also going to be using the CURT Dual Plug-In Custom Wiring Adapter. This is part number C51446. The CURT Tri Flex is a proportional breaking controller, so that means when we hit our breaks, if it's a real fast sudden stop, the accelerometer 00:33 inside, that's going to apply our brakes very hard and very suddenly on our trailer for us to help us to accommodate. If we're going through traffic in the every day slowing down a little bit, the speed not slowing down, a gentle press on our brakes here are only going to activate that controller or will activate that controller at a slower, more smooth, and more comfortable rate. It's fully adjustable here on the top for our output. We can go all the way up to 9.9 and all the way down to 0.6 for our output going to our rear trailer. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2003 Dodge Ram- Video

Today on our 2003 Dodge Ram we'll be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller, part number 90195. Now to make our install a little easier we're also going to use the Tekonsha Plug & Play wiring adapter, part number 3020-P. This will connect directly to the manufacturer's brake controller port. Now to begin our install we'll locate the manufacturer's brake controller port. It's going to be behind the emergency brake pedal coming off the manufacturer's wiring harness right next to the module. This is a blue connector with four wires running into it. Once we locate the connector we can go ahead and take the direct-fit wiring harness, taking the white connector end and plugging it into the manufacturer's brake controller port. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2006 Dodge Sprinter- Video

Today on our 2006 Dodge Sprinter van, we'll be installing the TrailerMate X10 Trailer Brake Controller for the 1 to 4 axle in a proportional style, part number TM75813. To begin with, we will need to find a suitable location to mount the brake controller inside the vehicle on the driver's side. We first began by checking to make sure that there was nothing behind the dash that would be interfered with if we drilled through to mount the bracket. You want to make sure that you mount the brake controller in a convenient location but yet it's easily accessible to the driver while they are still driving. In this particular vehicle, there was not a good place on the right-hand side of the steering wheel to mount the brake controller, so we had to go ahead and mount it on the left-hand side on the lower dash. With that done, we'll go ahead and take the 4 screws and mount the actual brake controller to the bracket. A tech tip for this particular brake controller, the screen can be a little difficult to read. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Dodge Sprinter- Video

Today on our 2008 Dodge Sprinter, we're going to be installing the Tekonsha P3 Trailer Brake Controller for 1 to 4 axles in the proportional design, part number 90195. On today's Dodge Sprinter, it's actually a motor home conversion, but it will be a similar installation. There may be some additional wiring in this particular model just because it's in a motor home conversion kit. We will be able to show you where the plug is and the installation will be very similar. To begin with, we're going to need to remove a few items just to make our installation a little easier. This vehicle does already have a trailer package prep kit on it, so it has a 7-way plug at the rear of the vehicle and the wires are actually routed up underneath the driver's seat. more
